I was curious how Butcher was going to trump riding a resurrected dinosaur but horror movie monsters brought to life by fairies to kill people. That one is very good.

I keep reading Seanan McGuire and Jim Butcher. This has resulted in a huge desire to read a date night between Toby Day and Dresden.

I enjoyed this book and I look forward to the next story. I think Toby is very creative and even when the day is magically saved it makes sense in this magical world. I know that sounds a bit weird but you know what I mean. Come on how many times can a character be saved by getting powers they didn't have before bef0re they are no longer the character you fell in love with. I'm still in love with Toby.

I know I was just gushing over this author two weeks ago so I don't really need to repeat that she's awesome but she is. I look forward to checking out the next one in this series soon. If you still haven't read these you need to take a peek soon. So basically the main character really is much like the hero's of legend and no matter how hard she tries she can't turn her back on the kids that are in trouble in this series. I think one of my coworkers said it best recently when he said what kind of bastard doesn't help sick kids? I love that he couldn't understand the bastards who don't help just like Toby wouldn't be physically capable of not helping. Read and Enjoy!

I will admit, it took me a bit to shift gears and get into reading this one. The style is so very different then what I've been reading lately. Once I got into it though I really enjoyed it. I'm plan on downloading more of her books soon. Basically, the universe is a magical one that doesn't have any technology. So you're in a more traditional old school fantasy setting. The main character is the sun of the woman from her first series in the universe. If you haven't read the Magicians guild series you probably want to before reading this one. Read and Enjoy!

OMG I love these books. I never thought I would love zombie books since I'm not much into horror since the fourth grade but these are different. One disclaimer, this book has a horrible cliff hanger ending and you may want to wait to read it until the third one comes out. So basically, the zombie apocalypse happened and we're living in a society that is completely different then we see it today. The main character has lost his sister and is seeking revenge. Read it and enjoy.

I recently had a nice dinner with Seanin and spent time with her at a convention. She's awesome and I was really glad I decided to read a few books by her before meeting her. My honey, had already read several of them. I was just behind. She also writes under the name Mira Grant.

So, Rosemary and Rue, is about the changeling October Day and her reluctance to return to the world of Faery. Her life was completely ruined by Faery and yet she has little to keep her involved in human affairs. I found this book almost as awesome as Seanin herself.

I'm looking forward to her new series coming out in March 2012.

Basically, the world has lived through the zombie apocalypse and the story is bring written by bloggers born after. They got a wonderful job following a presidential hopeful. It is everything they could hope for and yet it might be the end of them.

I love Jim Hines and there were several great shorts in this book. A few of them were merely good. None of them sucked. I really loved the short about a puppet werewolf. Then, what everyone thinks is a serial killer, moves into town. He has an important internal moral debate on how to handle the situation. I look forward to the next two books in the series.

This movie is rated R and you probably don't need to be bringing your kids to the theater. Maybe wait til it comes out on video so you can pause it if the kid gets upset or something.

I found this movie hilarious. I would watch it again if it went to netflix live stream. A retired CIA killer is in love with a girl he talks to over the phone. When someone tries to kill him he runs off and kidnaps the girl to keep her alive. Then he partners with a bunch of his old buds and goes after the bad guys.

I love this authors titles. They're always so funny. This is a book in The Others series. The main characters in this one is a former model who hates Others and a 800 year old vampire. The former model is of course turned into a vampire right off the bat and the 800 year old vampire saves her from the bad guys only to be treated to her viscous temper and fiery personality.

This movie was very surreal. It was basically a trip through dreams of people who need some mental help. I think it warns against the trials and tribulations of messing with peoples brains with untested technology. I'm glad it's over but it wasn't weird enough to stop it half way through.

Then they have to convince the person they've fallen in love with that they're not so bad even if they have fangs and drink blood. Maybe even that person wants fangs and a steady diet of blood too. I still love them and want to read every one she puts out. I've got the next one on my bedside table right now. :)

Ok, I'll admit part of my love for this movie is Johney Depp. He's hot enough that I almost don't mind that he's dirty in all of these movies. This one is definitely better then the last one. I really enjoyed Every moment of it. I did not dish out the extra 8 dollars for the 3d. I don't think I missed anything.

On another note. What is up with bringing your blanket to the theater? If you want to watch a movie cuddled up under a blanket wait for it to come out on dvd. I don't need your blanket brushing up against me while I'm trying to get my fantasy on.

This was a really good book. I highly recommend reading it. When the next one comes out I'll probably buy it if the author lists it reasonably. She could use an editor and if she has one she needs a better one. But the story line is very good. The ended was a bit brisk. This story line was unique and fast passed. I read through the 470 pgs quickly and was happy to hear it carries on later.

I enjoyed this movie. The 3D was a waste of time. We only ended up watching 3d cause we didn't know that was what we're in for when we left for the theater. This movie was good. You meet S.H.I.E.L.D. which is an agency for the marvel universe. There are a few movies this summer that you may see them a few times before they play a bigger part in another movie. I would say seeing this movie, specially if you can get to an early showing, would be worth wild.

This was another good one in the Argeneau novels. It had interesting twists and turns. I wasn't completely surprised at the end but didn't feel like well duh either. I look forward to reading the next one on the shelf. When this series first came out it was very funny. Now it's lost a bit of that funny edge. I worry that the author might lose the edge on this series. So far even though it isn't as funny it's very good and each story is different. When they stop being different they'll stop being interesting.

Basically, this kid is turned into a vampire to save his friend from a spider bite. He's immediately in the middle of a huge war between vampires who don't kill and vampires that do. He's on the don't kill side.

This movie wasn't great but it was fun. Thing blow up and lots of bad people die. I'm very glad that I didn't see it in the theater though. It wouldn't have been worth the 20 dollars for my husband and I to see it. But on netflix it was great for the pure mindlessness of it. Now if they just could have limited the number of celebrities they had walk on that would have been better. It was a name dropping fest of faces.

This subterranean press print is recently available on E copy making it much more available to the general public. Which is good because I find Kelley Armstrong small press prints fun and interesting. I also find that they do have a effect on the story line even if they don't have a direct effect. One of the important things to remember as an author is that once it's happened to your characters it's hard to make it unhappen in your brain. Everything we do effects us. Everything our characters do effects them.

Angelic is a story about Eve as an angel. It was hard to believe at first but it really turned out really interesting. I look forward to reading more of her small press.

Rated G. I loved this version on Rapunzel. They gave her a personality. Told it from her side and not some princes side. You spend your time in her prison living her life and then you get to join her in her escape. The time you spend with her before her escape gives her escape more meaning to the viewer. Even though I saw this when it was out at theaters I bought a copy to watch at home.

This is a small print book that's hard to get a hold of and expensive. Just another reason we like our nooks. I'm glad we didn't buy an expensive version of this anthology. It was choppy and had a lot of abbreviations that I didn't know or understand. Most of the stories started after their beginning and ended before their conclusion. I likes 2 of the stories. This may have been nicer if an editor had attacked it.

Counterfeit Magic by Kelley Armstrong. Nook Book. I love reading her otherworld series. This is one of the books printed by subterranean press so it's not easy to get your hands on a hard copy. Luckily you can get it on e-copy.

This book was fast paced and exciting. I love how they novellas give you a snap shot into the characters lives we wouldn't normally see.

On another note Kelley Armstrong is signing in April at the Barnes and Noble in Ann Arbor.

There is some violence but nothing that the kids I know can't handle. Basically a bad wizard tried to take over the city and the good Wizards fight him. For a bit it looks like the bad wizard might win. The political side of the city was taken over years ago when the current leader killed the Queen. The princess has been in hiding for years and the bad wizard wants to kill her. Political intrigue, magic, and a swamp with creatures in it. It has everything.

Anita Blake Vampire Hunter Guilty Pleasures v1. This was a quick read. I had fun revisiting these novels in Graphic Novel format. I'm curious how far they'll be able to take them before they're considered to pornographic. Some of the pictures were different than I'd expect them to be. Anita was more timid than I remember her being. Edward was leaner than I thought he'd be. But over all good.

Sorcerer's Apprentice - Movie. PG. I was surprised by how good this movie actually was. I had hoped for some good action and some fun graphics and I wasn't disappointed. I hope that Disney can keep from making a sequel though. I feel it came to a satisfactory conclusion. Based on one thing at the end though I know Disney left an opening for a sequel which I would of course get on netflix once it came out.

He gets himself into trouble trying to avoid the other goblins. He finds a wand that is holding the ghost of a wizard. She's a very dangerous ghost. Read and you will laugh.

I'm not positive it's a good thing but I can guarantee that I'll be reading the next one to find out more. It's like the series took a complete left turn. Mind you if it hadn't it probably couldn't have continued much longer so this gives me way more books to read. However, last chapter was so creepy.

Percy Jackson and the Lightning Thief by Rick Riordan. Kids. I look forward to the day I can share this series of books with my own kid. It's lots of fun. Greek Gods are alive and kicking in the modern world. They haven't changed a bit though. Zeus is still crazy, Ares is rage filled, and Haides feels mistreated. Percy is a halfer. His dad is Poseidon. He doesn't deal well with school cause of all the monsters after him. His step dad is a real jerk. The other kids don't get him. The Gods have it out for him. Is it paranoia if everyone really is out to get you?

Did sleeping beauty really wake up to true loves kiss? Did Cinderella really wear those glass slippers? Could Snow White really survive the poisoned apple? In this book Hines visited what happened in Little Red Riding Hoods story. Fairies can be a sneaky bunch.

Yes, I know it's book blog monday and I don't have something read to tell you about. I am doing NaNoWriMo. It's national novel writing month. So I wouldn't expect a lot of reading to be done this month. However, I did go to a few book signings and I'll tell you about those.

Scott Westerfield - He writes teen books that have interesting twists and cool comments on society. His latest books have some pictures in them and I think we're going to see more illustrated titles come down the pipelines. It used to be a huge thing in books. All of them, even adult titles, used to be illustrated. Then the invention of the camera came a long and we no longer got illustrations. After listening to him talk I'm inclined to put illustrations in my titles.

Infinity by Sherilyn Kenyon. Teen Paranormal Fiction. I loved this one. It reminded me of when I first started reading Kenyon's works. It was fresh and new even though it deals with the same world. New Dead - Anthology. Fiction. I wouldn't recommend this book. It was mostly a book of short stories about zombies. One of the stories didn't even have a zombie in it. Most of the stories weren't bad but they also weren't good. I'm happy to be finished reading this. I'm hoping to crack a good book soon. Cross your fingers.

Little Brother by Cory Doctorow. YA. 365 pgs. In a pre 9/11 world I would have laughed at this book and said it would/could never happen. Post 9/11 I think that this is barely an exaggeration. I think that everyone needs to read this book and possibly open their eyes to the world around us. It's available free online http://craphound.com/littlebrother/download/. I wish the world wasn't like this but it is.

Cory Doctorow is a good writer who fights for publishing freedoms and frequently gives his books away for free. I've met him and he's very nice as well.

Sky Captain and the World of Tomarrow - Movie. The graphics were good although sometimes obviously green screened. The plot was fun. It really seemed like something written in the 50's about the future which I think was the point. The acting was wooden. Honestly I fell asleep for 30 min and didn't miss anything. I think this could have been a really good movie. It's a shame.

Bolt - Movie - G. I really enjoyed this movie. It's been a lot of fun. Ok it was sentimental and some of it was really cheesy but it was a lot of fun. I would watch it again. Specially with all the kids in my family. I think it might go on the list of movies I'd like to own. So basically there's this dog that's been lead to think he's a super hero. He gets out and somehow sent across the country. He's got to find his way back to his human. :)

Unfortunately this one was a bit stale. The characters were interesting but the danger seemed to be with the red tape and not with the evil. Guess that's what happens when you get to many curses all focused on one group of people.

He spends some time with his own imagination/psyche. His psyche really doesn't like him. This kid is some psychiatrists wet dream. On the whole I would never watch this movie again unless I was writing a psych paper.

Ponyo was a heartfelt tale of true love between a 5 year old boy and his gold fish. Yes if you didn't guess by that into it is indeed Japanese. The same people who did Spirited away made this movie. It was oddly good and yet very very surreal. I don't see any problems with kids watching it. I do however think that I did not do enough LSD (Ok I didn't do any LSD) to fully wrap my brain around this film.

I love Neal Patrick Harris. I grew up watching Doogie Howser, MD. If Wesley Crusher was my first crush Doogie would have been his competition.

In Dr Horrible's Sing Along Blog Neal Patrick Harris is the "bad guy" who really has a good guy message if you ask me. Stop being a sheep and look at the world with eyes wide open. Treat the problems don't treat the symptoms. Course he looks up to the wrong people and tries to fix the problems by taking over the world. But I love it and his mad scientist outfit in the end really rocks. I want one.

Planet 51 - Movie. Released 2009. PG. Fun with lots of little things in it for the adults. Really shows how a programmers expectations can change how a program works. A Human astronaut lands on Planet 51 thinking it was uninhabited and full of rocks only to learn he had faulty info. Instead he finds himself surrounded by a population who thinks he's come to take over their world and eat their organs. Sounds like the plot to a horror movie but it had me laughing out loud. It's currently being streamed directly to a puter via netflix.

I really wanted to love it since there were several gay couples in it. I wanted to love it since there were a lot of interesting concepts and relevant current events in it. I struggled to read this book. My recommendation Don't Bother.

It was almost ruined by the fact that it was so close to Jane Austen's style of writing but I managed to overcome that fact and read it through enjoying the slaying of zombies and the trapping of zombies. Makes me eager to get to sense and sensibility and sea monsters. Sorry I haven't gotten to it yet. I'm putting android Karenina on my b-day/xmas list. One question I have is on the back of the hard cover of PPZ it says now with 30% more zombies. I wonder if you count through if they actually replaced some of the numbers to give you more zombies. Probably not.

Voices of Dragons by Carrie Vaughn. Teen. First book in what I believe is going to be a series. Pages 309. I loved this book. I found the characters believable even the dragon. The government was believable. Every government seems to try to put one over on it's citizens. I also loved the pacing until the end. It was going along great and then it seemed like rush rush rush shove it all in before I'm out of pages. Lets get this wrapped up people. I'm not positive that wasn't just the nature of the story though. I'll be excited to see the next one to see how they fit together.

Basically Kay accidentally ends up in dragon territory and meets one. They defy all odds and become friends. Government and dragons don't get along. Human government is full of jerks. Bad things happen.
