Magic and Metabolism.

In many books magic seems to have some bioelectrical component. To draw the energy from the surroundings, or just use a spell, the witch/wizard needs to use some of their own energy to start everything off. If this is the case it seems they should be using more energy. So as the human body gets most of it's energy from food, it seems like they should have a higher metabolism. Funny how you rarely hear about that though. Werewolves are almost always given higher metabolisms, eating like the wolves they become. Yet the average magic user in stories is for all appearances normal.
