Rice, Anne
Let me first say that I'm not a fan of her newest writing Christ the Lord. I understand that she lost her beloved husband and almost lost her own life which lead her to find God. However, I'm not a fan of the new work. Now that fact doesn't keep me from liking her earlier works. She is one of the definitive authors of vampire fiction. Her Vampire Chronicles consist of 10 books (Interview with a Vampire, The Vampire Lestat, Queen of the Damned, Tale of the Body Thief, Memnock the Devil, The Vampire Armand, Merrick, blood and Gold, Blackwood Farm, and Blood Canticle). The New Tales of the Vampire series has 2 books. One of which should really be in the Vampire Chronicles (Pandora). And One of which I don't think was very good (Vittorio). She has the Mayfair Witches series. It has three books in it and it took me forever to read the first one(The Witching Hour) It stunk. The other two were ok (Lasher and Taltos). Unfortunately I felt that reading them was important to fully understanding Merrick and everything after that in the Vampire Chronicles. Of her single writings I highly recommend Cry to Heaven. It was very well written. I could only get through Servant of the Bones by listening to it on tape. Belinda is disturbing and I feel it promotes child porn and old men dating young girls. The Sleeping Beauty series was well porn but most of the time I kinda like porn. Over all I think this author had her time and was good for awhile but needs to get an editor and listen to them. Yes listen to them. She has one hell of a temper and just needs to grow up.
