Contradition

I was just thinking. Why would God create man and give him free will but keep all those poor angels subject to his whims and not give them free will? That would kid of suck. I mean I know you need people to do your bidding without question and all but wouldn't it be better if they were volunteering for the job. Like oh I really believe in that dude Gods work I could really get on board with that.

Then again if angels had free will and decided not to work for God would they lose either powers. Are their powers like a gift to get the job done or are the part of being an angel?

Ok just random thoughts cause I was looking at the cover if this book I read last week and it's got an angel on it.

Pans Labyrinth - Movie

Pans Labyrinth was a weird movie. First it's all subtitles so if you're going to watch be prepared to read. Now I rented it knowing that so that's not really the weird thing but the story line was messed up. It was like a bit of Greek mythology, some Grimes faery tales, a bit of Celtic mythology, and maybe a bit of Disney toward the end. It was very dark and gruesome. Definitely not for kids. In America we pan away from our death but they looked at it full on. No panning away from the really icky stuff. So yeah so it or not it's up to you.

versus - the movie

Versus is a Japanese zombie movie. I was mildly amused. Unfortunately I did fall asleep for about 1/4th of it. I just couldn't get into the Japanese forest of resurrection. The battle between evil and not so evil happens like every 500 yrs or so. Why is it always every 500 yrs? Why not every 390 yrs? Just a thought. So they battle it out for the ability resurrection. At least from what I gathered. If you're up for a cheesy movie this would be one to rent.

Wild Thing - anthology

Wild Thing - anthology. Pages 394. Romance
Animal magnetism by Maggie Shayne. Honestly this wasn't what I was hoping it would be but it wasn't bad. It was the story of a female vet who could read the thoughts of animals. Kind of aqua man on land. She helps heal animals and place them in really good homes. Unfortunately she ends up getting all wrapped up in a case with the police and she can't figure out how to tell the handsome cop that she can read the dogs mind and this is what the bad guy looks like.

Paradise by Meljean Brooks. I really enjoyed this story. Basically there are demons and kind of angel people. There are also vampires. This one vampire is really on his way to suicide when an angel drops into his life to help him get things on track while helping her track and kill some demons. The working relationship is very rocky and life is a bit difficult for both of them for a while. For a while it looks like they'll never manage to save the world.

Hunters Kiss by Marjorie M. Liu. This story was pretty good. Demons take over people who don't have the strength to kick them out. Lucky for the people the hunter exists. She takes the demons and sends them back where they belong. Lucky for her the preacher man exists to save her from her own self destructive tendencies.

Wild Hearts in Atlantis by Alyssa Day. This story was also pretty good. The city of Atlantis really does exist and the warriors are charged with keeping humans safe. Now it used to be that were creatures were a threat to this charge. But for a short time the were's are a good group. Unfortunately the vampires are very close to deceiving the were's into becoming a threat to humans once more. The Atlantis warriors have to convince the were's to group with them and Kat is their in.

I'm back

I hope everyone had a good time while I was away. Sorry for the extra day added there.

I've been thinking about special powers. One special power I know that I've always ignored is speaking with animals. I mean how useful is that. It's not going to get you out of any trouble or anything. But then it was pointed out to me that people frequently ignore animals. I mean they do things without kicking their animals out of the room. So animals see lots of things we don't think they might see. Think about what you might learn talking to them. Hum oh icky. Well have a nice day. See you Monday.

The Harlequin by Laurell K. Hamilton

The Harlequin by Laurell K. Hamilton. 422 Pages. SciFi. I know you probably wont believe me but OMG it has a plot. It was good again. There were all of three sex scenes. I'm so glad that she's coming back. So basically the Harlequin's are a group that the mother of all darkness made to be neutral and keep vampire law. They have no land and they live by a strict code. But someone or one's have gone rogue. Anita and the boys are in deep trouble. She even calls in Edward who calls in some old buddies. Now if someone said to me which Anita Blake books they should read I'd say read up to Obsidian Butterfly and then skip to The Harlequin. There will be some power development you wont understand completely but just go with it. Have fun.

Signing info and more

I went to the signing yesterday. Davidson is really funny and I wish I could have talked with her more like a friend then as an author. She was great. She signed all my books and didn't seem to mind at all. We got pictures taken and we'll be sending those off to her later. She's also really great with answering questions and it seems like she might even swear as much as I do. She called herself a jerk a lot which she totally isn't. I can't wait til I get to go to another signing.

I'm reading the new Laurell K Hamilton now. It actually seems like it has a plot and I'm really enjoying it. I'll get back to you with more on that as soon as I finish it.

I was thinking wouldn't it be weird to have a monk like character of the super natural world. Like somehow their super sensitive allergies and stuff help them save the world. Alas I have yet to think of a good way to do it. I'm working on a punch of stuff to write about. Talk to you all later have a nice day.

Undead and Uneasy by MaryJanice Davidson

Undead and Uneasy by MaryJanice Davidson. 288 Pages. Romance. I love Betsey queen of the vampires. She rocks. She's alone in the mansion. Mark is missing in action. A Werewolf pack is at her front door wondering where their missing member is. How could things possibly get worse? Oh and her wedding is two weeks away and she doesn't have a dress. Check it out.

Davidson short stories.

Well I don't know about anyone else but I totally feel the need to read most of what I'm getting an author to sign. Specially when I'm asking them to sign 31 books. So here is the skinny on two more of Davidson's short stories.

Savage Scavenge by MaryJanice Davidson. 46 Pages. Romance. In Charming the Snake. I liked the concept of this story. I think really it needs to be worked up into a full book. It just seemed like it was missing lots and could just use more. But basically there are mutants and norms. This norm Dr helps lots of mutants stay off the grid and fixes them up when they're hurt. He uses her as a part in a scavenger hunt. She uses him for something completely different. Check it out. I don't know about the rest of the stories yet.

Paradise Bossed by MaryJanice Davidson. 68 Pages. Romance. In Surf's Up. I really liked this story. Basically the main female lead dies right off the bat. Luckily she is a ghost for all of it. The male lead is a medium. They fall in love. You'll have to check the rest out for yourself.

I hope to see people at the Davidson signing on Tuesday. I'm geeked.

Witch Way by MaryJanice Davidson + Correction.

Witch Way by MaryJanice Davidson. Pages 65. Romance. Ok so this isn't a full book. I am planning on going back and reading the rest of the short stories in Demon's delight soon. However Davidson's book signing is on the 12th and I'd like to finish everything I'm having her sign. So Witch way is a good short story. A long line of Witch Hunter names the Goodman's are destined to die hunting the long line of witches names the Mere's. There is only one way out of the curse. A Mere must share his magical powers with a Goodman before they kill each other. Good luck over coming years of tradition.

Correction - Book Signings
MaryJanice Davidson will be signing books at the borders in troy on the 12th not on the 22nd in Ann Arbor like I'd previously written. I got some dates mixed up. Sorry.

A Nameless Witch by A. Lee Martinez

A Nameless Witch by A. Lee Martinez. Science Fiction. 320 Pages. This book was just awesome. the full title is actually A Namless Witch a tale of vengeance, true love. and cannibalism. So a family killed a wizard and for that offense the wizard cursed them. Every 6th child they had would be born undead, hideous, and afraid of the light. Well time went by and no one had 6kids. After all it's 6 kids who wants to test a curse that much. One day someone did and they found the curse to run true. Well mostly. They locked their undead girl in the basement until one day ghastly Edna came and saved her from her fate. Then the journey begins and lifetimes are changed. This is Martinez's 3rd book but they don't have to be read in order. In fact I still have yet to read Gil's All Fright Diner. I should get around to that.

Tonight at Barnes and Noble in Rochester Hills Colleen Gleason will be signing her books. 7pm I believe. I'll be there. I hope to see some of you.

No Humans Involved by Kelley Armstrong

No Humans Involved by Kelley Armstrong. Science Fiction. Pages 342. Jaime is a necromancer. Her life is divided between pretending to speak to spirits for TV appearances and actually speaking to spirits for investigations. She's also very much in love with Jeremy who has yet to get it. Jeremy is the alpha of a werewolf pack. He works also works for the same group of paranormals that Jaime works for. The two are working on a case together. There are a group of kid ghosts that seem to be stuck between dimensions. The main question is how. Jaimie can't figure it out so the two of them get together with some more paranormals and work through some theories. I loved the book and my honey felt the need to stay up all night long to read it. Check it out.

Plum Lovin' by Janet Evanovich.

Plum Lovin' by Janet Evanovich. Mystery. Pages 164. Stephany deals with diesel once again. Diesel is an unmentionable. Unmentionables are humans that have super human powers. This time he needs to hunt down a man who gives people rashes. Rash man is after another unmentionable who fixes love lives. Her name is Annie. Unfortunately Annie wont stay hidden unless someone is helping fix lost love before Valentin's day. Good luck to these two I think they'll need it.
